Sichuan Palace: Reviews & Ratings
I forgot how good their food is! It's been yrs but they are still the best Chinese I've had! It's not a fancy place, that's why I gave the atmosphere a 3.
What's for lunch? (Saturday~ March 14, 2020) Sesame chicken with spicy General Tso's sauce!!! Sweet iced tea for the drink!!! Yum Yum Yum!!! The woman who usually waits on us was there & things usually turn out the best with her!! I feel like we are friends!! Meal specs: As usual... I ordered the sesame chicken because I like the chicken that comes with that meal better than the chicken that comes with the General Tso's chicken meal!! It's less breading & better chicken!! I love their spicy General Tso's chicken sauce!!! They will make it spicy if that’s what you like... like myself!! The crab rangoon was also good!! It was crispy and the filling was creamy & a good balance!! Not too sweet & not to cream cheesy!! Drink specs: Their sweet iced tea is really good here!!! It's sweet but it doesn't taste like you're drinking sugar!! This day it was perfect!! Bon appétit!!! Pictures
Stop here because we were in the area, first time here, the place was empty. We were the only ones there, service was fine, I had chicken lo mein, it was excellent, my friend had pork fried rice. Very large potion we both took home part of our meal. We each had a egg roll they were good also. Will stop again if in the area.
I ordered Uber Eats delivery from this restaurant. The entree had great taste and great value, with a large portion size for the price. --- Entree: Eggplant Tofu Price: $10 Weight: 787 grams (entree) Taste: 4/5 Definitely a restaurant that serves one of the better Chinese eggplant dishes in the Pittsburgh area. The sauce is sweet, savory, and just about the right consistency. Tofu is cooked well and goes along deliciously with the sauce. Eggplant taste is also on-point and blends deliciously with the overall entree. Docking minor points because the texture of the eggplant was a little too mushy but overall much better than comparable dishes in the area. Value: 5/5 At $10 this dish is a superb value. Large chunks of eggplant and tofu show that this restaurant didn't skimp on ingredients and you definitely get your money's worth. 78g/$ is a solid amount of food for your dollar.
By far this is the best Sichuan place we’ve come across. My husband and I have been trying out Sichuan places in Pittsburgh for the past 6 months. Pittsburgh has quite a few ones. All of them were good but jot like we ll go back again. This is the only one where we ll go back again and again. Food is reasonably priced with good quality and quantity. We ordered Shrimp with Vegetables with white sauce and Mongolian Beef. Both tasted very good. After a long time I had the real kind of mixed veg with shrimp. Their service was fast and staffs were good too. Their restrooms were very clean well.
The food is great. They are always fast and inexpensive. I love this restaurant.
Consistently good food, for many years, and still a cut above most Chinese restaurants. If you like Chinese, you won't be disappointed. (I do miss the oolong tea, though.)
This was such great food they have the best shrimp toast I ever had in my life. Once you eat their shrimp toast you will not like anyone elses. I really wish I knew how to make it. I ordered off one of the food apps for delivery I think it was uber eats a few times, and everything I have had from you guys was really good!

Located at 60 Federal Dr in Pittsburgh, Sichuan Palace stands out as a destination for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine, especially those who crave bold and comforting flavors. This unpretentious spot may not offer a luxe ambiance, but its food speaks volumes. The highlight dishes here, such as the Crab Rangoon and Beef Lo Mein, showcase a harmony of texture and taste that keep diners coming back. The Crab Rangoon arrives crispy with a creamy, perfectly balanced filling—not too sweet, not overly cheesy—which strikes a memorable note on the palate.
Meanwhile, the Beef Lo Mein is generously portioned with tender noodles and savory slices of beef, delivering comfort food at its best. The Sesame Chicken, a favorite for its light breading and juicy chicken pieces, stands apart with its sweet and mildly nutty sauce. Fans of spice are well served with dishes like the General Tso’s Chicken, which can be customized to fiery perfection. The Teriyaki Chicken offers a sweeter counterpart in the menu’s flavorful spectrum, balancing the spicy and savory elements seamlessly.
What truly elevates Sichuan Palace is the consistency in quality and value. Whether dining in or ordering delivery, the portions are ample and the ingredients fresh. A dish like the Eggplant Tofu reveals the kitchen’s skill in layering sweet and savory notes, pairing soft tofu and eggplant in a sauce that clings just right. It’s a dish that nearly hits perfection, save for a slight textural softness in the eggplant, but it remains a standout among Pittsburgh’s Chinese offerings.
The menu also includes classics like Wonton Soup and, intriguingly, a unique take on Shrimp Chow Mein, speaking to the kitchen’s willingness to fuse traditional with creative. Customer reviews recount swift service, friendly staff, and cleanliness—elements that enhance the overall experience beyond just the food.
In sum, Sichuan Palace delivers authentic Sichuanese and Chinese dishes that satisfy both in flavor and value. Its strong suit lies in offering rich, balanced flavors with generous portions. For anyone looking to revisit or discover classic Chinese dishes grounded in genuine taste, Sichuan Palace is a true gem in Pittsburgh’s culinary landscape.
